Before they come to improve your home, your Window World windows and doors are manufactured from high-quality materials with the utmost precision—all right here in the United States. Learn more about the processes and materials used when creating your home upgrades, so you get a behind-the-scenes look at the hard work that goes into keeping your home comfortable and energy-efficient.
What goes into your doors and windows is more than the materials, they’re the building block on which a high-quality product is made. While other materials are used in small quantities, we’ll focus on the two key factors for your windows and doors: the vinyl frames and glass for window panes or door lites.
Manufacturing vinyl is an environmentally preferable process when compared to other manufactured materials you may encounter in home products. The main component in producing vinyl is common salt, and more than half of our vinyl’s PVC resin is also sourced from salt. Salt is an inert natural resource, and this eco-friendly measure is just one part of why we use vinyl for our door and window frames. Additionally, any vinyl scrap leftover from our manufacturing process can be immediately recycled into other vinyl products.
Glass for window panes and door lites is commonly manufactured using the float glass process, where molten glass, made from minerals and sand, floats atop a molten tin bed to create a perfectly flat surface. Window World’s manufacturers take this process a step further when creating our Low-E glass packages, adding an undetectable, microscopic metallic coating to our insulated glass units that blocks heat gain in the summer and allows short-wave solar rays through in winter.
More than the materials used, our manufacturers’ processes in engineering doors and windows add durability, longevity and energy efficiency, benefiting your home for years to come.
Our manufacturers use heat to join together our vinyl frames and sashes, creating permanent seams and tight corners that keep your windows strong. The molten heat essentially melts the frames and sashes together into one unit, ensuring a long-lasting product without gaps at the frames and sashes that let in hot or cold air.
Double-strength glass is crucial for windows that hold up to severe weather or everyday accidents. We use double-strength glass in all our windows for their stability—they’re designed to be less flimsy and breakable than ordinary glass, lasting for years without breakage or flexing from strain. (Plus, if the unexpected does occur, our limited lifetime warranty is there for your peace of mind.)
Insulating gasses like argon gas between window panes brings big returns over time. Our manufacturers add argon gas, an odorless, colorless and nonreactive gas, between panes to increase energy savings over time and keep your home comfortable year-round, regardless of outside temperatures. This commitment to energy-efficient products isn’t reserved for our windows, though. Every product we sell is thoughtfully made to increase your home’s overall energy efficiency, meaning you’ll see savings on your utility bills from installation day on.
Airtight weatherstripping keeps outside air from infiltrating your home through windows and doors, so you won’t need to worry about chilly drafts coming in during the winter. We install them where needed to prevent air leaks, so you should see savings on your monthly energy bills nearly immediately—your home’s heating and cooling systems will have much less work to do to keep your home comfortable. It also serves another practical purpose: dust, weather and pests stay outside where they belong with well-maintained weatherstripping.
In addition to taking care with every product we install, our team carefully measures your home’s doors and windows to provide a truly custom fit. In combination with the customization options available, your exterior products will be as unique as you and your home are. Your home is in good hands with us—custom measurements mean it’s a perfect fit on the first try, and our trained installers work quickly and carefully to make sure you’ll love the way your home looks when we’re done.
